Pull Up a Seat - A Single-Take Review of Just Desserts

No soup. No salad. No entree. Just desserts! Today Jeremiah reviews the latest concoction to come out of Looney Labs: Just Desserts.

Just Desserts is a card game for 2-4 players in which you're a server at a desserts-only cafe, trying to take care of guests who come in with certain tastes that are on your tray (cards in your hand). This is a filler game that plays in anywhere from 10-40 minutes.

This week we're previewing the latest from Stonemaier games: Between Two Cities--a semi co-op tile-placement game for 3 - 7 players. It's a game of city planning and building, and it has nothing to do with a novel by Dickens, as our flavor quote would have you believe... Stonemaier Games has a ridiculously pristine track record when it comes to fulfilling their promises and delivering games that are not only a TON of fun, but also comprised of great, high quality components. Today we're looking at a prototype, so the images you see are definitely not final, but we can surmise that the finished product will be spit-shined and looking slick when it hits your doorstep or FLGS shelves.

Today we get to take a look at the latest title in the Tiny Epic series: Tiny Epic Galaxies. TEG follows Tiny Epic Kingdoms (see our review here) and Tiny Epic Defenders (our review is coming!). And just like Kingdoms and Defenders, Galaxies is not just a re-theming/re-skinning of one basic game. Kingdoms is a 4X game, Defenders is a co-op, and Galaxies is.... a dice roller! Today we're taking a look at the dexterity game full of boasting, challenging, trash talking--Maximum Throwdown, by Jason Tagmire. It's published by Alderac Entertainment Group and features a fair amount of throwing-down--in fact, you could say it's the maximum amount of throwing-down found in a game.

So is Maximum Throwdown worthy of claiming supremacy in the throwdown department? It's time to find out!

Seventh Hero - A Single-Take Review

So, apparently some prophecy has come true, and a big baddie has awoken to reign in terror over the free peoples of the land. Fortunately for those free peoples, the prophecy also tells of seven heroes who will join together to defeat this bad guy!

Today we're looking at Seventh Hero, from Alderac Entertainment Group and designer Kuro. Seventh Hero is a card game of set-collection, bluffing, and risk-management for 3-5 players. Players are attempting to gather six of the seven heroes in the game in order to win--the player becomes the seventh hero.

Today we're looking at Stonemaier Games' sophomore offering Euphoria, the dystopian worker-placement game set in a future world where it's good to keep your workers dumb and happy, not educated and angry. You win by exercising your authority on the land and placing all of your tokens on the board to show that you can keep those little people under your thumb.
